Here is a promise to write soon.
I promise, I promise.
(The pictures are from December. I hurriedly rushed into London one morning to visit Ladurée.)
Whilst I am here, I may as well write a little.
My world hasn't truly changed much at all. Up is still up, down is still down. A book is still a book, a bear is still a bear.
Homework is still the ever rising Everest that it always was. And I'm still here, still desperately trying to scale it as best I can. But from where I'm standing, the snow just never stops.
I am making a Time Capsule though, just for me. One to bury in the woods.
I talked to Pru about it today. She said that Time Capsules are all about the letting go and I had never seen it so before. We made one in primary school as a class, containing a small item belonging to each pupil and it was to encompass 'How We Would Like To Be Remembered'. The terrible part is, I don't. I don't remember my item at all.
Perhaps what Pru said is true. It was for the forgetting. Not for the remembering.

Wow, these pictures are beautiful. Ladree looks like such a lovely place!

I know how you feel about homework, I have the same problem too. I just try to somehow enjoy these busy times. It's easy to take them for granted and wish to be someplace else, but it's a much better idea to learn to appreciate them. :)

Come visit me sometime, we'll have tea and talk about time capsules.

Good luck with Everest, I too trek upward.

Oh, I always reckoned time capsules weren't for the people putting stuff into them as they were for promising excitement and anticipation to the ones opening it!

I have such a yearning for macaroons, but I'm pretty certain the humid, Floridian climate isn't suited to making them. Boo!

ive been meaning to make a time capsule, but no need. I have short memory loss, so everything is new to me. daily.

I found your blog two months ago. I'm glad to see a more recent post. I look forward to more.

I agree with your friend Pru. I think they are meant to let you forget. Maybe you won't feel as guilty for forgetting if you know you can dig up your capsule and remember again. Or maybe it is just so you can move on to another phase without to many worries. They sure are fun to open again, though. If you can remember where you buried them. Maybe you should leave yourself a path of breadcrumbs so you can find the way back. Just in case.

I absolutely concur. For some reason, it has never occurred to me to be concerned about how I should be remembered. I'm perfectly happy to be forgotten.

ps - Oddly, these pastel-hued sandwich cookies keep popping up in my collective consciousness lately. Curiouser and curiouser.

beautiful photos! i found my time capsule a little while ago, i made it when i was 12 or so, i had forgotten what was inside too. but to rediscover memories that were once precious to me, shed a different light on the life i live today. if that makes sense. x

Macarons!!1 I have yet to try one, but I am going to Paris in May and stumbled across an article on the Parisian boutiques for these sugar treasures. I am now determined to find the best macarons in Paris! :p

It is good to see you back posting - I've missed your gorgeous whimsy.

...If I could make a time capsule, I'd buy a moleskine journal, and fill it with pretty thoughts and pictures and cutouts and my dreams and little stories and magic...then put in in the box, bury it up,
and pray someone like you'd find it.
I cannot wait for your next post. I hope you have a great time in London.

xx Rosebud

It is a shame that what we wanted to remember the most in our time capsule is what is always forgotten

tin cases
i love the 3d pop up ones
the ones you can run your fingers delicately across them and feel like edges seep into you
i love the 3d things you can put into them too
different to photographs and letters and diaries
somethings different
remembering the different edges of your memorie
......oh i'll love to see your treasure chest memory box :) even if it's the time you write again
which i always hope you'll write
with all your heart
and all my heart
i'll love you too write
maybe a book one day
when i read i capture the castle your voice here
voices through the yellow glow of the pages
like castle walls
and wooden bridges
you have a gold heart

There's a Laduree in London? I just spent two months in Paris and one of my best memories is having lunch there with a friend. I didn't get to snap the photos I wanted, it didn't seem right. Now I have yours to refer to, albeit from London! So gorgeous, I would have been thrilled to capture their beautiful boxes and macarons as you have.
