A very early morning visit to The Natural History Museum.
It was empty, utterly empty.
The Blue Whale doesn't frighten me anymore. In a peculiar way, I wish that it would.
p.s,
The writing in the last photograph is written upon a wall inside my art school.
I don't know who it belongs to.. if it belongs to you; I am sorry.

These pictures are wonderful. Which museum is this?
I went to the museum near me yesterday too. So many bones, and feathers and big empty spaces.

I wish there was a museum like this near where I live. I've always liked Natural History Museum. I find them fascinating and haunting in a good way.
Your pictures are gorgeous.

Have a great day!

I was never frightened by the whale. Though deep, dark water has always frightened me. Oddly, I am frightened by snorkeling but not by scuba diving. Once deep under the surface, I condsider myself in the whale's realm, and hence somehow safe.

how lovely the last picture isn't a random internet find, but you actually know where it's written! and the light gives the photo such a serene vibe...

hello sweet love,

i adore the natural history museum!! i have been so very many times and never tire of it. the blue whale is wondrous, but i absolutely love the bird section. i think it is my favourite part.

i took my teeny brother who has an obsession with dinosaurs, and he was so excited about seeing the tyrannosaurous rex. and then he got so terrified, and we had to run away.

that writing is such a lovely find. truely it is.

lots of love

The only time I have been to the Natural History museum is on this trip to England I did with a bunch of students in the middle of summer (at 100 degrees F!!) with tons of tourists at every corner. So it really wasn't the best experience, which was disappointing because I had really been looking forward to it. But your pictures, and you being there with hardly anyone else around makes me long to be there too! That is exactly how I always envisioned myself there... having a museum all to yourself (sigh...). Anyway, I just want you to know dear that you are amazing! I hope you are well <3

My Natural History Museum was the one in New York City. The ocean room there is vast and dark indigo with glass windows looking in on giant squids, and great white sharks that you have to squint to see in the gloom. The whale floats above the room high up in the atrium like a giant planet, and it used to frighten me in the most exciting, thrilling way. I craved it. I still dream of that room.
