Went to see The Royal Ballet's 'Swan Lake' a little while ago.
Still keep thinking about it a great amount. Act IV quietly ruined me.. half the people in the orchestra stalls were small buttoned-up-messes too.
I can't remember my train ride home.
I can't remember the After.
I remember the Before, the black cherry bubblegum, the broken book, the black and the white, the worry. Constant, constant worry about all the double yous. Winter and War and Wolves and Wills and Won'ts.
Double yous are the worst for worries.

My Time Capsule is coming along, albeit slowly.
& a book for Otto called '
Here Be Dragons'. Which is not about Dragons, or Being, or Here. It is about feeling afraid. Of the space between you and me, the dark, the unbearable vastness of oceans, concrete time and never waking up.
But not dinosaurs, because he doesn't believe in dinosaurs.

Winter and War and Wolves and Wills and Won'ts are wearing me down too. I hope summer comes soon where you are, and where I am as well. I hope Otto likes his book and that pleasant things go your way soon.
I hope. I hope.

well. I don't believe in people sometimes, or the world.

Swan Lake - how wonderful. I remember listening to the music over and over again when I was really little.

Have you seen Matthew Bourne's interpretation of Swan Lake. It's beautiful too.

So glad you're posting again :)

Dear Joanna,

I think I have failed to ever leave you a little note on your blog before, despite my wholehearted adoration of all that you post!

This post was especially compelling to me... I was trained as a classical ballerina for seven years, beginning when I was merely three years old. When I was six, I attended ballet classes at a prestigious ballet school, where, should any young girls' lips part into a smile, or should her face betray her with an expression of delight, she would surely be punished by the headmistress. Ballet was to us, shivers of sweat snaking down our delicate flesh and leotards, colors of babies breath; ballet was expectations, a prelude to aching bones, and impossible exhaustion; ballet was to be of a pure perfection, of pointed toes, of poise.

There are those who say ballet is a weak excuse for a sport, but what it is, is all the physical strength of brawling football game, controlled with such grace that the sport of ballet is masqueraded and it appears to the naked eye, as art.

I have always been a free spirit, too wild to be tamed as a ballerina, and hours in the ballet studios, were to me, the equivalent of a torture chamber, however this post gave me new sight, and while I do believe it is unlikely I'll ever lace up point shoes again, I suddenly see ballet as something beautiful, once again.

(Sorry, this comment is quite like a tumble weed, in the desert wind, going on and on, but this post sparked so many thoughts, which led to word after word tumbling from the tips of my finger to keyboard. Do forgive if you've fallen asleep reading it all).

Love,
S-C

How exceedingly Beautiful. I have never had experience such Beautiful things at once. In one place. The Unicorn Diaries.. Oh it is a teleportation to A Beautiful World.

Yes, I do suppose we all could feel Tchaikovsky's deep sadness.. The man was so full of affection and feelings. I wish him alive today. I believe that if he was alive today, being happy would actually become a possibility. However! Most of the time that statement would become untrue, seeing what our World is today.

And also, thank you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, though they feel very personal. They help. You thoughts are Doctors.

Please feel Loved. For you are.

i went to swan lake when i was 7. my mother took me. we were sitting very close to the stage, and i can remember hearing the sound of the dancer's feet slightly tapping on the stage. after a while it was all i could hear, the sound memorized me.

i just came across unicorn diaries today during a study break, a lovely distraction. perhaps i can assist you in the same area

Have you ever wanted to be a ballerina more than anything?
I have, and I still do.
But, some part of me tells me that my time isn't now...not here, not now.
Because everything that S-C King said is true, and there's even more to it...
But have you ever gone down that beautiful, tragic path?

My first love has been and will always be ballet. I understand the rigors, I am a fencer, so repetion and pain for perfection you get over when you find the passion.

This is very beautiful. W words worry me too, we cannot help but use them some-times. W words, however, are among my favourites. Perhaps our favourite things worry us for a reason.
